Madeleine Noland

President

Madeleine Noland is the President of the Advanced Television Systems Committee Inc. A 20-year industry veteran who is widely respected for her consensus-building leadership style, she chaired the technology group that oversees the ATSC 3.0 next-generation broadcast standard before being named ATSC President in May 2019. Previously, she chaired various ATSC 3.0-related specialist groups, ad hoc groups and implementation teams since 2012.

Noland began her career in the television industry in 2004 with Backchannelmedia Inc., an interactive television technology developer. It was during her work there that she first became involved in ATSC projects. In 2012, she moved on to product and project management roles at Telvue Corp. before joining LG Electronics CTO’s office in 2013. Noland represented LG in a variety of industry organizations for over six years.

Most recently, Madeleine was awarded the prestigious 2022 David Sarnoff Medal by the Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers (SMPTE) in a ceremony held in Hollywood, California. She has also received TV NewsCheck’s “2019 Futurist” Women in Technology Award and was named one of 2018’s “Powerful Women in Consumer Technology” by Dealerscope magazine. In 2016, while the Chair of TG-3, she received the ATSC’s highest technical honor, the Bernard J. Lechner Outstanding Contributor Award recognizing her leadership related to the development of ATSC 3.0 Next Gen TV.

Credited on three U.S. patents for television technology, Noland is a member of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers – Broadcast Technology Society. Noland graduated cum laude from the University of Massachusetts. She enjoys travel, and she plays keyboards in a band called “Brave Pursuit.”

Jerry Whitaker

Jerry Whitaker

Vice President for Standards Development

Jerry Whitaker is the Vice President for Standards Development at ATSC. He supports the work of the ATSC Technology Groups and assists in the development of ATSC Standards and related documents. Whitaker is Secretary of Technology Group 3 (TG3), which is documenting the next-generation ATSC 3.0 suite of standards. , He also is closely involved in work relating to educational programs.

Whitaker is a Fellow the Society of Broadcast Engineers and a Fellow of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers. He has also served as a board member and vice president of the Society of Broadcast Engineers. He is the author and/or editor of more than 30 books on technical topics.

Anh Ngo

Anh Ngo

Manager of Communications and Member Engagement

Anh Ngo is the Manager of Communications and Member Engagement at ATSC. Prior to joining, she was the Director of Administration for the North American Broadcasters Association and World Broadcasting Unions. Ngo has been a leader in fostering NABA/WBU’s relationships throughout the globe, most especially through her primary responsibilities in providing continuity on the work plans and activities pertaining to North American and global television and radio industries addressing legal, business development, technical and operational issues. Ngo oversaw the general office and financial management including the preparation and administration of the budgets for both organizations. In this role, she reported directly to the Director-General and the Chairs of the numerous committees she supported. Ngo was NABA’s longest serving employee, having started her career with the Association in August 1997. During that time, Ngo built lasting relationships with senior level executives from broadcast networks, service providers and operators and manufacturers. She had a front-row seat to many of the greatest innovations in modern broadcasting.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from McMaster University. Ngo is fluent in English and French with working knowledge of Spanish and is conversant in Cantonese and Vietnamese. She had fun earning a Culinary Arts certificate from George Brown College in Toronto. In her spare time, she loves to expose her family and friends to her diverse heritage and life experiences through travel, food and trivia. Ngo is a proud soccer mom and a staunch Canadian.
