Mary Crebassa, Vice President of Major Accounts at LTN, was recently named Chair of the newly formed ATSC Business Advisory Council. She is someone you should know…
Give us a snapshot of what you do in your day to day. I manage LTN’s commercial business for broadcast groups in the United States. I also oversee LTN’s commercial side of ATSC 3.0 NEXTGEN TV deployments. So far, we’ve launched 68 ATSC 3.0 markets which means we have shifted, transported, and continue to provide ongoing management and monitoring of both ATSC 1.0 and ATSC 3.0 channels from origination to destination stations.
How and why did you get involved with ATSC 3.0? LTN was initially asked by Sinclair if we were interested in participating back in mid-2020. After understanding the requirements, we created a special ATSC 3.0 Rate Card for the markets which took into consideration channel volume and provided LTN Gateways as part of the service. On May 26, 2020, we launched the first ATSC 3.0 market, Las Vegas. Since that time, we have worked with both consortiums, BitPath and Pearl TV, as well as independents to successfully launch 68 markets to date.
Please tell us about the new Business Advisory Council, which you are now chairing. I’m very excited about it, and I’m looking forward to participating in the formation of this new Council. It will provide strategic advice, business perspectives and corporate insights to the ATSC Board.
What excites you most about the future of ATSC 3.0? The new and improved features that ATSC 3.0 brings to market are extremely important for the future of our world. Especially the advanced EAS features and the BPS (Broadcast Positioning System) which are about safety and security.
Tell us about your family, including any pets. I come from a large Italian family so when we spend time together it’s like a big nonstop party. I’ve been married for 35 years to my awesome partner, George, and we have two daughters and three grandchildren with a fourth on the way. We love animals, especially dogs, and we have two huskies named Nigel and Nymeria.
What are you currently reading? Born Of Lakes and Plains by Anne F Hyde. It’s about mixed-descent people and the making of the American West.
What are you currently binge-watching? Frontier starring Jason Momoa on Netflix.
What are your ideal weekend plans? Spending time with family and taking care of my garden. I enjoy digging in the dirt and planting roses.
Do you have an alternative career choice? I would be an Archaeologist. I like digging and finding lost civilizations, past peoples and cultures.
