YOU will now be able to watch high-quality television without needing to pay for a subscription or cable service, thanks to Trinidad and Tobago’s first ATSC 3.0 demo station.
The Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, in collaboration with CCN Television Ltd, launched an ATSC 3.0 demo station yesterday. Powered by a 200W Rohde and Schwarz transmitter, this is the first digital television signal to be broadcast for free-to-air reception in Trinidad and Tobago.

The Advanced Television Systems Committee, Inc., is an international, non-profit organization developing voluntary standards and recommended practices for digital terrestrial broadcasting. ATSC member organizations represent the broadcast, broadcast equipment, motion picture, consumer electronics, computer, cable, satellite, and semiconductor industries. ATSC also develops digital terrestrial broadcasting implementation strategies and supports educational activities on ATSC standards.
