The ATSC is ushering in springtime across the northern hemisphere with a very busy March (with 40-plus scheduled meetings and conference calls), capped by a series of important face-to-face meetings in Seoul, South Korea, toward the end of the month.
On March 27-28, the ATSC is co-hosting the 2017 Global UHD Conference (together with the U.S. National Association of Broadcasters, Korean Broadcasters Association and the Telecommunications Technology Association). Following the conference, the TG 3 Technology Group and ATSC Board of Directors will hold face-to-face meetings in Seoul on March 29.
Keynote speakers will include NAB President and CEO Sen. Gordon Smith and MPEG (Moving Picture Experts Group) Chairman Leonardo Chiariglione. Other speakers and sessions will focus on next-generation broadcasting technologies and services, including end-to-end 4K Ultra HD production and transmission. The Global UHD Conference also will feature live terrestrial 4K UHD broadcasts, commemorating Korea’s spring 2017 launch of ATSC 3.0 broadcasting.
The conference organizer is the Korea Radio Promotion Association. Top sponsors include the Korean Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning; LG Electronics; and Samsung Electronics.
